Andrew Poveda interviews Jesus Mendoza, a Mexican American medical student at The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont and is the new Co-Director elect of LMSA Northeast. Jesus stepped into the Co-Director elect role and his goals are to keep LMSA Northeast feeling like a family and to uplift others Latinos. Jesus is a first-gen student and he shares not only the challenges, but also the mentorship, and identity that shaped his path. This episode highlights the importance of representation in medicine and the power of community and mentorship for Latino students entering the field.
