A motive is a reason for doing something. In Matthew 6, Jesus challenges His disciples to check the motives of their hearts when practicing righteous acts of giving, prayer, and fasting. Proverbs 21:2 says, "Every man's way is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs and examines the heart." When ministering to others, let's follow Jesus's example and keep our motives pure.
