The writer of Hebrews advances the teaching that the Lord Jesus Christ is our Great High Priest. He moves swifly in chapter five to present the qualifcations of Jesus as the Great High Priest because he knows that merely declaring this would not satisfy his readers - they would require proof.
"And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,” Hebrews 5:9-10
