On Sunday we continued Season 3 of Binge the Bible by turning to Luke 6:17–26 and listening to one of Jesus’ most challenging teachings. In this passage, Jesus doesn’t simply offer advice on how to live a better life, He redefines what life actually is.Surrounded by crowds seeking healing and relief, Jesus announces a remarkable reversal of values. He calls the poor, the hungry, the grieving, and the rejected blessed, while warning those who are comfortable, satisfied, and applauded by the world. In doing so, Jesus reveals that life in God’s kingdom is not measured by comfort or approval, but by dependence, allegiance, and trust in Him as King. One important truth to carry into the week is this: What we organize our lives around reveals which kingdom we’re living for. The values of the old kingdom, power, comfort, success, and recognition, often pay off quickly, but they always wear off. Jesus invites us into a different way of living: a life shaped by eternity, surrender, and hope that cannot be taken away.
