Jesus Christ, King of the Universe || November 24, 2019Readings: 2 Samuel 5:1-3; Colossians 1:12-20; Luke 23:35-43Homilist: Deacon Dan Brahier
This week we are taking a look at the Gospel from this weekend as we celebrate Christ the King weekend, brought about by Pope Pius XI. Deacon Dan takes a look at St. Dismus, commonly referred to as the Good Thief, who was crucified next to Jesus Christ on the cross. It was his simple prayer, "Jesus, remember me" that showed Jesus this dying man's faith in Him as King of all. Deacon Dan also challenges us to treat this weekend as New Year's eve as we begin the new liturgical year next weekend with the First Sunday of Advent.
