Last week, we heard Jesus declare, “I am the Bread of Life.” But in John 6:47–71, His words get even more challenging. He tells His followers that they must “eat His flesh and drink His blood”—a statement that shocks the crowd and even causes many to walk away.
What was Jesus really saying? Why did His message divide so many people? And what does it mean for us to truly feed on Christ today? Today we explore the cost of genuine discipleship—the difference between being a fan of Jesus and a true follower. As Peter says, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” When others turned away, Peter stayed. Will you?
Questions to reflect on:
• Why do some people walk away when Jesus’ words get uncomfortable?
• What does it mean to truly “feed” on Christ in faith?
• When following Jesus is hard, what keeps you from turning back?
