The Bible gives us clear examples of what it means to be a Friend. David was a friend to Jonathan & Jesus genuinely loved the Disciples.
“The Bible says a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” True friends are supportive and reliable. There is a known saying that says, “blood is thicker than water.” this Bible verse shows that good friendships create bonds that go even deeper than blood relationships. Proverbs 18:24
Good friends stick around long enough to know when we are sad, broken, and frustrated. They also know when we are happy and full of joy. Loyal friends are always by our side. They are always supportive of our important endeavors, they gracefully correct us when we are wrong, and they congratulate us on our achievements.
He shows us how to be a good friend and what a true friend looks like, as he demonstrated this with the disciples. Studying how he lived and how he interacted with the disciples show us how to be a friend.
This starts with love. He loved others above himself. We must do the same in our relationships with others. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13, NIV)
When someone has the motivation to love in their heart, it shows they are a good friend because they are following Jesus’s example. I have concluded there are 3 key components of Friendship.
