The writer of Hebrews paints a powerful picture of Jesus not only as a priest but also as a king in the order of Melchizedek—a mysterious figure who points forward to the eternal nature of Christ’s priesthood. We look at how earthly priests were called to offer sacrifices, bless the people, teach the law, and mediate between God and man. But these priests were limited by sin and death. Jesus, however, is without sin, and His obedience—proven through suffering—makes Him the only one truly qualified to be our eternal High Priest.
