To be defiled is to be marked and thus ruined by sin. It is the essence of mankind, defilement means that the good that we are created to both enjoy and produce has been marred by our sin. It is the profoundly tragic condition of man that he, in himself, is without redeeming virtue, for there is no part of our basic nature which has not been corrupted and thus defiled… But Jesus Christ is the undefiled. He alone is pure, He alone is without any taint of sin, He alone is immaculate… The glory of this kind of purity belongs only to Christ. It is a virtue that we need desperately and one which in the mercy of God is communicated to us through our Lord Jesus, the Undefiled.
