Jesus Washes His Disciples Feet
How do we connect the awesomeness of our God and the example Jesus set in washing his disciples' feet?
Isaiah 40:12-17 calls us to stand in awe and wonder at the raw power and profound reach of our God!
Psalm 51:7-12 gives us our only proper response to the possibility of a relationship with such an awesome God: We need to let God do the heavy lifting in cleansing us and giving us willing spirits!
But still, Jesus washes stinky feet? Even Judas' feet? Yep. John 13 tells us that Jesus sets this example and calls us to do likewise. In doing this, he is showing us what his Father is like. How so? In the beginning of the story, God shows his willingness to perform humble service when he clothes Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:21).
Our response? Follow Jesus' example and see the opportunities for humble service in this world! Be vocal about why you are doing what you do. People need to meet this God!
