--Jesus submits to the baptism of John - a baptism of repentance and forgiveness. This is a beautiful example of Jesus- active obedience and righteousness. He obeyed all that God called upon His people to do. This is vital. In our justification, God treats us as if we had lived Christ-s perfect life - because, on the cross He treated Jesus as if He had lived our sinful life -II Corinthians 5-21-.------The temptation of Jesus was an all-out effort to persuade Jesus to abandon His role as Mediator. Satan pressed Jesus to take care of Himself rather than take care of us. Jesus- was truly and severely tempted by Satan himself, but He did not sin -Hebrew 4-15-. In this we see His victory over sin and His powerful and faith love for us.
