The concept of the jet ski began in the 1960s with a man named Clayton Jacobson II. A motocross enthusiast, Jacobson envisioned a motorized watercraft that would combine the thrill of riding a motorcycle with the fun of being on the water. His early prototypes were made of aluminum, but he soon switched to fiberglass for a lighter and more durable design.
