Wow, what a weekend. Had an amazing time at The Puffin in Queensville, Ontario on Saturday September 24th to watch 709'er and then made my way to O’Brien’s in Cambridge to watch the Mainland Kitchen Band.
Had the pleasure of meeting so many great people which I’ll talk about on this show, along with the overall day/night.
Also we know about the devastation in and around Port Aux Basques area from Tropical Storm Fiona. We’ll chat briefly about that too.
But this podcast is going to be different. I play a fair amount of Newfoundland Country music but where did it come from? I’ll tell you as this show will take you back to what might be the first Newfoundland Country musician. I’ll talk about the pioneers like Roy Payne, Derek Pilgrim to Clay Butt to Simani and to those of today, Brad Simmond's Country Music CD release, Jamie Taylor Music to Randy Matthews and of course the female pioneers like Corey & Trina and Joy Norman to Tammy Dutcher.
So be sure to tune in live every Monday at 8PM ET on CKWR 98.5 FM for the best Newfoundland music this side of the St. Lawrence.
