Hello lovely human! I hope you’re having a great week.
Today we’re talking about the clusterfuck that is JK Rowling’s new book concept and how it’s harmful to the trans community. Ailish talks about this SBS article by Eden Gillespie and references this CNN piece by Lianne Kolirin.
Plus, Chris Evans (aka Captain America) leaked his own nudes and the internet’s reaction is worth talking about. Why do we not respond to women who get hacked or have their nudes leaked with the same respect?
And how could I talk about this week without mentioning the amazing essay in The Cut by Emily Ratajkowski. It’s most definitely worth reading and is very confronting about the harsh realities of being in the public eye and the turmoils of the modelling industry.
I recommend a piece on Mamamia by Keryn Donnelly. It’s an analysis of a recent shift in a reality TV edit that has seen the ‘wifey’ turning the ‘villain’ and will make you reconsider your initial thoughts about people on reality TV shows. Always critique your initial opinions about people on shows where it’s so highly edited.
If you enjoyed this episode please give it a review.
Thanks for listening! See you next week. X
