In Job 21:17–26, Job does his friends' arguing for them — and then takes it apart. How often is the lamp of the wicked actually snuffed out? And if God stores punishment for the children of the wicked, what does the dead man care? Job pushes on the logic, then closes with a picture that won't let go: two men, two very different lives, both covered by the same worms.
