Did you know that MyPlan.com ranks being a professor as one of the most satisfying jobs?  I wanted to learn more, so I reached out to Dr. Jennifer Crawford lecturer of Chemistry at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Her love for chemistry and desire to help her students grow fuels her drive to teach first year college students.  It was so fun to speak with her and I think we covered almost every topic ranging from a day in her life as a  lecturer, her degree path, her doctoral program experience, her career path to even talking about technology in the classroom.  Her wisdom on factors to consider when choosing a graduate school is a must listen for those planning post graduate studies.  Enjoy!

In this episode I speak with McKenna  Merten, a practicing PA, a new mom, and the wife of Luke Merten who was a guest on my most recent podcast release. 

As a graduate of University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, McKenna  now works in a primary care clinic.  She shares such helpful insight into her current role and gives a glimpse into her previous role working in a spinal surgery clinic.

The PA field is a very popular desire for students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.  For those interested in this field, I think it would be really helpful to hear her input on general practice versus a pursuing a specialty.

 In today’s episode I speak with Luke Merten, a graduate of University of Houston College of Pharmacy.  After completing his critical care residency at Baylor St. Lukes, he now practices as a board certified critical care  pharmacist.  I didn’t realize there was this type of specialty and learned that there are many more specialty paths for pharmacists.  It was a very enlightening conversation and I especially appreciated how he keeps up with the latest trends in pharmaceuticals.
