After a very warm day with near record highs, a cold front will be moving east across the Eastern US with rain near the coast and snow well inland in Upstate NY and New England. Late this week an arctic air mass will sweep across the Great Lakes and much of the Eastern and Southern US.

Tuesday will see very warm temperatures with some record highs possible in the Northeast. Colder air arrives at the end of the week and over the weekend as high pressure comes down from Canada.

Cold weather covers virtually all of the East and that should last into early Saturday before temperatures moderate. The weekend looks dry but some rain will come in Sunday night into Monday morning, perhaps a little snow and ice well inland. A stronger front and more showers come later Monday into Monday night across the Ohio Valley and the Northeast. We will look at the long range toward Christmas.

An arctic front and a developing wave on the front will bring rain across the Deep South and then up and down the East Coast Tuesday night and Wednesday from the Carolinas to New England. Flash flooding is possible. Once the front passes colder air returns with heavy lake effect snows from Northeastern Ohio to North Central NY. Cold temperatures finish off the week in the Eastern US.
