Weather in 5, 10/5/24 Tropical Storm Milton in the Gulf of Mexico is forecast to strengthen to a hurricane Sunday night and a major hurricane Monday night or early Tuesday. It is tracking east northeast and will landfall along the Florida west coast Wednesday as a major hurricane. Elsewhere we have small areas of severe weather risk in the Western Great Lakes tonight and in parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Western NY into West Virginia late Sunday into Sunday night. Showers could move through the Northeast and Mid Atlantic Sunday night followed by a chilly dry air mass that will be around most of next week in the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states.
Weather in 5, 10/2/24, weather conditions across the US are rather quiet with little in the way of adverse weather. A few showers are forecast for Upstate NY and Northern New England as a cold front passes east. Hot weather is going on in the Southwest US, and a few showers are moving through the Northern Great Lakes. Hurricane Kirk is way out in the Atlantic and no threat to land. Behind Kirk there is Tropical Depression 13 which will become Leslie in short order but this storm too will recurve into the open waters of the Western Atlantic.

The last vestigages of Helene and the upper low associated with it will move off the Mid Atlantic coast, swept eastward by a cold front moving through NY and New England. This should lead to general improvement in weather conditions in the East which have been dominated by clouds and showers. Calm weather conditions cover most of the US for the remainder of the week and probably into the weekend.

This will bring gradual improvement to weather conditions in the Eastern US where it has been stuck in gloom and doom since late last week.
Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 9/24/2024. Helene is strengthening into a major hurricane tonight and Thursday, heading for a landfall in North Florida as a category 3 storm. Impacts from this storm will be wide ranging due to the unusual nature of the storm being affected by a strong upper air storm in the Lower Mississippi Valley. Widespread heavy rain will occur from Eastern Alabama to the Western North Carolina Mountains. Tropical storm force winds will be felt well inland in North Florida and much of Georgia including the northern half of the state. Severe weather and tornadoes are possible Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas Thursday into early Friday. In the Northeast and Mid Atlantic showery rains are possible into Thursday before dry air returns Friday and the weekend.

Hurricane Warnings are posted for the coast of North Florida. Helene is forecast to strengthen to a major hurricane before landfall Thursday. It will bring heavy rain and strong winds through much of the South and into the Southeast US. A cold front is moving east from the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley bringing showers to the Eastern US Wednesday.
Tropical Storm Helene is strengthening quickly this afternoon in the Northwest Caribbean and heading for the Yucatan Channel. Hurricane and Tropical Storm Warnings are up for much of the West Coast of Florida. Severe weather is moving through parts of the Tennessee and Ohio Valley this evening ahead of a cold front. The Northeast will see showers Wednesday into Thursday as that cold front heads to the East.

While the Northeast Great Lakes and Ohio Valley are dealing with clouds and some showers, we are watching a system in the Northwest Caribbean developing and it will become a tropical storm Tuesday. It is headed for the Eastern Gulf of Mexico and it appears that risks are rising for a hurricane for the Gulf Coast from Alabama to the Florida Big Bend. This tropical system also could spread strong winds, heavy rain, and severe weather well inland across the South and Southeast US late in the week.
