Born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK, guitarist Joe "Blower" Garvey is a founding member of the post-grunge rock outfit Hinder. Garvey had loved music from an early age, and though he picked up playing the guitar in high school, he did not really take it seriously until college when he became friends with vocalist Austin Winkler and drummer Cody Hanson. Together they birthed Hinder in 2001, and after solidifying into a quintet three years later, earned a swift record deal with Universal Records. Hinder's debut album, Extreme Behavior, was released in the fall of 2005.
