On Thursday Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael were joined by 92.9 The Game Atlanta Braves reporter, Joe Patrick, who discussed the exceptional MLB debut for Ian Anderson yesterday in the first game of a doubleheader against the New York Yankees.
“He did beyond what anybody realistic expected him to do, especially against a Yankees lineup that will all know presents a ton of danger. And what I really liked about his outing yesterday was he wasn’t perfect all the time but he was generally able to throw strikes when he needed to be able to throw strikes which we all know that has been a big problem for Braves starters this year. And also when he did miss, he was missing down in the zone. So when he was not perfect on his pitches they weren’t getting hit hard or getting hit out of the yard,” said Patrick.
Anderson threw six innings in his debut while only giving up one hit, a homerun to red hot Yankees first baseman Luke Voit (.300, 11 Homeruns, 21 RBI on the season), while striking out six batters and only giving up two walks.
