Joey Leto first showed up at a BMX track at the age of three. He was called the neighborhood legend. Joey says he wasn't very good but he loved riding his bike. Sarasota BMX was and is his home track. He got serious with racing around the age of 11 when he started racing the Florida state series. During his amateur career he rod for All Tow Wrecking Crew/Yess to Full Tilt. Joey's amateur career was capped off with NAG #1 plate in the 17-20 expert class.
