John begins his Gospel by taking us behind the manger and back into eternity, revealing that Jesus is the eternal Word who is fully God and was with God from the beginning. He is also the Creator through whom all things came into being. Because He is the source of life and light, the only fitting response is not admiration, but worshipful surrender and stepping into His light.
