Judas. Just the name evokes all kinds of negative emotion and images. He’s known for committing the ultimate act of betrayal that no one wants to associate themselves with, but what if we all have something in common with Judas? What if there is a Judas in us as well?

The man who was closer to Jesus than any human alive today, who witnessed all the action up front for three years, ultimately betrayed Jesus for a bag of silver coins. If Judas could do that, wouldn’t that mean we have the capacity to betray our relationship with Jesus as well? And if we can do that, well, how do we correct it? How do we move forward?

This teaching from John 13 takes us back into the Upper Room where we learn that while we have the capacity to betray as Judas did, there is a way to guard against rejecting Jesus and move forward with the life God has for us!
