Where does true joy come from?
Many of us look for joy in circumstances, accomplishments, relationships, or the next thing we hope will make life better. But in John 15:11, Jesus points us somewhere entirely different. In this episode, we memorize John 15:11 and explore the connection between abiding, obedience, love, and joy.
We talk about:
- What Jesus meant by "my joy"
- The context of the vine and the branches
- Why obedience is connected to joy
- The difference between happiness and biblical joy
- How abiding in Christ leads to a full and lasting joy
Jesus did not give His teachings to burden His followers. He gave them so that His joy would be in them and their joy would be complete. Joy is not found in striving for Christ—it is found in abiding in Christ.
