John 1:6–13 Verse by Verse Bible Study
Welcome back, friends! In our last study, we explored John 1:1–5 and saw how Jesus is the eternal Word of God, the Creator, the source of life, and the Light that darkness cannot overcome. Today, we’re moving into the next section, John 1:6–13. These verses introduce us to John the Baptist, talk about how the world responded to Jesus, and remind us of the amazing privilege of becoming children of God.
Verse by Verse TeachingJohn 1:6–8 – “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.”
John 1:9 – “The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.”
John 1:10–11 – “He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.”
John 1:12–13 – “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
