In John 16:5-15, Jesus prepares his disciples for his imminent departure, explaining that it is necessary for him to leave so that the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, can come. The Spirit's role is to guide them into all truth, convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The disciples are assured that the Spirit will not speak on his own, but will convey what he hears from the Father and the Son. Even today, we have assurance that the Holy Spirit is still at work and active in our lives!
