What do you think of when you think of bread? We often do not think about it in the same way that John's first century audience did. Another thought from this text is when do we take the Bible literally? We see that first, bread was a staple food, that was life sustaining and important to survival, much different from our add on idea of bread. We will next see that we take the Bible literally, literally, when it is meant to be literal. Listen to the episode and I promise that is explained. The chapter closes with Peter making the bold statement that all earthly things pale in comparison to knowing Jesus who is the only source of eternal life.
