Today is Gospels Saturday, and we’ll read John 7-9. I’m calling this episode “Free Speech Under Threat."

Summary

The passage in John 7-9 reflects the presence of "cancel culture" during Jesus' time. People feared supporting Him openly due to the Pharisees' control and potential consequences. However, one man courageously stood by his belief that Jesus had healed him. The narrative parallels today's climate of suppressing speech and viewpoints. 

Free speech is at risk of being lost today, as well. Christians must boldly proclaim the Gospel, even if labeled as hate speech. Stand firm in your faith and seek Jesus' approval alone. The struggle with today’s culture is spiritual, and we can overcome through God's presence.

But soon it was time for the Jewish festival of shelters. And Jesus brothers said to him, leave here And go to Judea where your followers can see your miracles. You can't become famous if you hide like this.
