In today’s message from John 9:1–12, we encounter a man who had never seen light, color, or even his own reflection—until Jesus stepped into his darkness. This miracle is more than a physical healing; it’s a powerful picture of what happens when the Light of the World meets human suffering.

The disciples wanted to debate the cause of the man’s blindness. Jesus shifted the focus to purpose—declaring that this suffering was not random, but an opportunity for God’s work to be displayed. In this passage, we’re reminded that some suffering isn’t meant to be explained, but revealed as a platform for God’s glory.

We also see that obedience comes before understanding. The man didn’t have all the answers—he simply followed Jesus’ instruction. And when he obeyed, his sight followed. Finally, his changed life became undeniable proof that Jesus had been at work.
