John Alagia was born in Louisville, KY and played in rock bands from an early age. He slowly transitioned into the studio with his buddy, and band mate, Doug Derryberry after graduating from Georgetown University. Doug and John began producing acts out of their basement studio in Northern Virginia and ultimately extended their scope throughout the mid Atlantic.
Notables in the early days were Dave Matthews Band, Ben Folds Five, Vertical Horizon and Edwin McCain just to name a few. After several years playing with Doug Derryberry, John decided to focus on studio production instead of performing live. He converted a house on the eastern shore of Maryland to a recording studio. That era in the early 2000s bred the debut albums for John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Rachael Yamagata, Josh Kelly, and hosted the likes of Lifehouse, Dave Matthews, Mandy Moore, and many others.
In 2005, John left to work on a project with Liz Phair out at the Village studios in LA while maintaining his place in Maryland. Bouncing between LA, MD and NYC, he had the opportunity to work with Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock, Brett Dennen, and Lukas Nelson among others. He considers the Village his home these days.
