As leaders in the US there’s a deep resistance among the clergy to address abortion, for many reasons. But many are uncertain how to approach it. Dt. 21 gives direction.

Leaders are required to lead their people to understand the pre-eminent moral crisis of our time: the shedding of innocent blood. The closer you are, the more responsible you are. The more life-threatening, the more urgent the response. Therefore the church must act in her neighborhood, to prioritize an effective response to rescue and prevention.

Pastors' main responsibility is to teach the Bible, and then train and mobilize the people to find the various ways to do the work of rescue. Teach well, and you will have less to do, as people catch the vision

But. Will churches lose members by taking on such a controversial mission? Two heavy lessons demonstrate otherwise.
