Power Rack Training Volume Three-Eric Fiorillo The Host of the Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Streaming Radio 24/7 Welcomes John McKean to the Broadcast.“John McKean, turning a “young” 74 this December, has been competing in all aspects of the iron game for 57 years. He’s lifted in hundreds of meets, having won National titles in Master’s age Olympic style weightlifting and powerlifting, and acquired 9 World titles in IAWA (all-round) weightlifting, currently holding 335 USAWA national all-around records. As a retired Middle school math teacher, with a Masters’s degree in Guidance & Counseling, John put to good use all the writing required in college, by  “self-discovery” articles published in about every available strength journal. He was quite involved with the sport during the “golden age” of power rack training in the 1960s, and has continually trained with, researched, and written about this dynamic system ever since!”

Power Rack Training Volume Three With Eric and John today will focus on the specifics of how to start and push your way through the Dead Stop Squat with the eventual outcome of a timed push against the second set of rods for a successful lift. This is the most important step of the lift just to get it started. I want to make the execution of this lift plain to everyone starting our Power Rack Program that there is no starting the loaded bar from the top position or rebound effect involved for the completion of this lift.

Does the question beg what is the formula to get the bar moving from the midpoint of the Power Rack at the Dead Stop Position? The best way to get started is with the empty Olympic Bar of your choice. We know the various names out there to use so it’s up to you to find a bar that suits your training needs. The reason why I say the empty bar is like with any new lift of this magnitude you’ll need to get the feel for the lift and then begin to build new pathways to perform the lift eventually at a high level with a lot of weight loaded on the bar. We briefly talk about the importance of the breathing we use to get the bar moving from the bottom position. If your interested in hearing the whole conversation please tune into Power Rack Training Volume Two for the highlights.

Power Rack Training Volume Three is our Year-long series which will change your life in magnificent ways. There is nothing out there that will ever deliver the strength gains and power that people only dream of. John has some great stories and examples of how a local powerlifter thrashed a champion that was going to walk all over everyone. John even wrote an article way back when how this local champion beat the pants off of this champion lifter who walked around town for days in his shorts thinking this meet is all mine and the competition is weak. Boy did he get a big surprise! Take a guess what our local lifter was doing for his win? Stay tuned and we will make a believer out of you! I’m that confident! Keep Going!
