John has been a freelance illustrator and cartoonist for most all of his adult life, creating illustrations of everything from tap dancing shrimp (for a business logo) to fishes (for Audubon Field Guides) to squid respiratory systems (for textbooks) to pies & cabbages & roasting chickens.
