John the Baptist bursts onto the scene, heralding the arrival of God’s kingdom.  But this good news also compels us to repent and remove obstacles to Jesus’ lordship over every aspect of our lives–intellectual, emotional, and volitional.  The Gospel is the wonderful message that God has declared amnesty for all who will repent, receive forgiveness, and be restored as his beloved children.  Then, we too can take up the mantle of John and proclaim this good news to our friends.
