In John 19:35, the Apostle John asserts his credibility as an eyewitness of the death of Jesus.  His account affirms that Jesus knew he would die, when it would happen and how it would occur.  Jesus was in control of his death.  He chose to die because of the purpose: defeating death and buying back his wayward bride.  Easter confirms his identity as the Messiah and demonstrates he successfully achieved his purpose.
