As we read the Gospel of John as a church, today we come to the story of a crippled man relying on superstition to get healed. He probably figured he had no other choice and nothing better to do with his time anyway. It turns out most of the people around him were obsessed with the wrong things, too. 
 
But Jesus says, open your eyes: there's something WAY better out there, better than you can possibly imagine. And all you need to do is stand up & receive it.
