John Tyler delivered his address upon assuming the office of the president on April 9th, 1841. Read by Yuvraj Singh. Tyler was the first vice president to become president; his predecessor, William Henry Harrison, had died a short month after becoming president. Tyler would not be re-elected. Interestingly, he would be the only president born in the 18th century to have grandchildren alive in the 21st century.
The cover art is an 1959 portrait of John Tyler by George Peter Alexander Healy.
