Johnny was born in Mesa, AZ and attended The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Just as he was finishing college, he decided that he did not want to pursue a career as a TV reporter and instead focused his attention to pursuing a career in the film/TV industry. He moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to work as a film development intern for Panay Films
