It was early on the first day of the week that Mary Magdalene despairingly went to the tomb of Jesus. Much to her surprise, rather than finding Jesus' lifeless body inside, she discovered an empty tomb. The eyewitness account of the empty tomb provides great assurance of Jesus' resurrection, a foundational truth to the Christian faith. (John 20:1-9.)
