Pastor John Ryan Cantu brings this week’s message, “Jonah Syndrome.”
Jonah 3.10 ESV: “When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.”
Jonah 4.1-3 ESV: “But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry. And he prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster. Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.””
Romans 9:.15 ESV: “For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.””
Luke 23.34 ESV: “And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.”
Romans 9.22-24 NLT: “In the same way, even though God has the right to show his anger and his power, he is very patient with those on whom his anger falls, who are destined for destruction. He does this to make the riches of his glory shine even brighter on those to whom he shows mercy, who were prepared in advance for glory. And we are among those whom he selected, both from the Jews and from the Gentiles.”
