Today’s program is about the role dreams play in poetry. The program gets to the topic by first considering the summer solstice and midsummer, and then leverages into the oneiric tradition in poetry by way of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was a springboard for my interest in considering how I might incorporate dreams into my writing. The program includes my translations of poems by two Lithuanian poets in which dreams, including nightmares, play a principal role and it ends with three of my own dream poems.
