Leaving Home: Im/migrant Interviews

Jorge A. with Freshman Friend [en Español]

Listen Later

In this episode, Jorge interviews a 14-year-old freshman here at Mission Vista High School in Spanish. She explains her life back in Mexico and how much work her parents had to put in to feed her and her four other siblings. At the same time, the oldest also worked to help out the parents. In contrast, they moved the younger ones here to the U.S. for a better education, with the hope that they would have an easier life in Mexico.

The conversation explores the complexities of the immigrant experience, reflecting on the bravery, struggles, and triumphs of those who leave home and immigrate to start anew.
