— Tony Robbins
I was introduce to Josh Whiton by a friend, former podcast guests and the world’s most followed photographer Trey Ratcliff. When I heard Josh was into composting and a friend of Tony Robbins I knew he had a story worth sharing and food waste worth composting.
Before his current composing endeavours, Josh founded a tech-startup that got people out of cars and onto public transit, creating jobs while reducing fossil fuel emissions and the carbon footprint of millions. For his positive impact on people and planet Josh was named a Champion of Change by then president Obama. Josh’s company was also named one of the most innovative companies in transportation by Fast Company before being acquired by the Ford Motor Company to form Ford Smart Mobility.
Josh also co-founded one of the first urban farms in the southeastern United States. Still in operation today, the one-acre urban farm helps thousands of people each year to participate in a more beautiful food system.
Now Josh is working on increasing consciousness, community and planetary repair through compost and his organisation makesoil.org. As Josh says, we’ve got broken feedback loop where we throw away our food waste like it’s garbage, when in fact it’s the very material that supports life on the planet.
In short, we’ve got a top soil crisis that compost can help solve and help solve so many of the issues we are struggling with as a human race.
“Making soil can help us physically, intellectually, socially, spiritually, and emotionally.”
