* God had just crumbled the walls of Jericho.

* Now in this battle God did it a different way.

* He used the people to set an ambush.

* God told Joshua to do to Ai as he did to Jericho.

* God was going to do it but He would do it “through” the people.

* God wasn’t going to destroy Ai the same way thus tempting man to trust in a system or pattern as opposed to a Person.

* But when God works through man, the temptation becomes to believe we’re the one who bring about the victory.

* God’s prescription for this was for Joshua to build an altar upon the ruins and writing the book of the law on the stones (vs 30-32).

* This would be a constant reminder of who God is and what He’s done.
