In Joshua 8:30-35 Joshua renews the covenant. The purpose of covenant renewal was (1) to remind the people of God’s covenant promises and (2) to call the people to consecrate themselves so that they could experience a heart and mind level renewal. Acts 3:19 tell us that "times of refreshing" come to those who experience God's rescue and restoration.
