The airport management also prepares waiting room arrangements for delayed flight passengers due to bad weather, with the implementation of strict health protocols. Meanwhile, traffic conditions at Juanda Airport towards the end of the year began to show a positive trend. The trend of an increase in the number of daily passengers was observed since the implementation of antigen swab testing as one of the flight requirements.

Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi has taken some precautionary measures against a third wave of COVID-19, or the delta plus variant, that has surfaced in several countries.
