You may remember when journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee were imprisoned in a foreign country. They spent four and a half months in prison. Euna described those excruciating four months as the longest of her life. She said that every day felt like an eternity. Later, after they were released from prison, Euna said that it was her strong faith in Jesus Christ that sustained her. She didn’t know if she would survive but she clung to Psalm 23, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me...”

In the months that followed Laura and Euna’s release, Euna had opportunities to tell hundreds and thousands of people about Jesus Christ. Though her months in prison were horrible, it was because of them that so many people would listen to her story now.

Have you been through a difficult season? There may be good that comes from it. Because of where you’ve been and the difficulties you’ve faced, you may have more opportunities to tell people about Jesus Christ. God can use the bad times in our lives in powerful ways. Sometimes these ways include sharing the Good News of Jesus with people we would otherwise never meet. Be encouraged! Because of the rough times, you may be able to reach even more people with God’s love.
