Join me as I stand on the island of Santorini where 3500 years ago a volcanic eruption displaced thousands of people and potentially gave rise to a prominent people group in the Old Testament, the Philistines. The eruption flung land mass in every direction and leveled the population of Crete.
Although this island is not mentioned in Scripture it does remind me of the journeys of Paul in this area of the world. Santorini’s ancient name meant “door.” If you remember, Paul stated that in 1 Cor. 16:9 that a “great door” was opened unto him. I wonder if he had Santorini in mind? Fun to think about!
