Maternal care at the Manhyia Government Hospital in the Ashanti region has over the years been a hurdle for medical staff owing to the heavy congestion at the facility. Management at the hospital says the situation is forcing expectant mothers to deliver within unhygienic conditions, including sleeping on the bare floor.
