We are often told that happiness is the result of wealth, fame, authority, freedom, high self-esteem, low expectations, or some combination of those. There is no shortage of books to buy on the subject. But wasn’t it the act of seeking out more than we were allotted in the garden of Eden that led to discontentment in the first place?
