Jude b
The Apostate
Jude:8-11
II. The Characteristics of the apostates and liberal influences on the church. (8-11)
A. The false prophet is a person that holds themselves to the highest regards. (8)
Romans 13:1-5 NKJV
13 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.[i]
B. The agents sent to do the work of God must be submissive to God. (9)
C. Apostates do not know God and their lives are a reflection of their beliefs. (10)
Matthew 23:15 NKJV
15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.[ii]
D. The apostate follows their own desire, is greedy, and is lead to destruction. (11)
